[jwplayer mediaid=”4726″]November 7, 2011: Storm chasers Dave Demko and Heidi Farrar tracked a highly prolific supercell from just south of the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge west of Lawton, OK, northeast to near Fort Cobb. The storm produced numerous tornadoes, some of which were strong to violent, but mostly remained over open country for their life spans (one tornado did impact a large wind farm, and at least one Oklahoma Mesonet site sustained a direct hit!). This was the most active fall season tornado event in Oklahoma in over a decade.
